\nThe Huji Storytelling Fair is a unique traditional folk opera gathering in Huji Town, Huimin County, Binzhou, Shandong Province. Held from the 12th to the 17th day of the first lunar month each year, it has a history of more than 800 years and is known as “the largest folk storytelling fair in northern China”. During the fair, folk artists from all over the country who perform pingshu (storytelling), dagu (drum storytelling), qinshu (storytelling with lute accompaniment), Shandong clapper talk and other genres gather in Huji. They set up stages along the streets to perform, while crowds sit around to listen. Artists also exchange skills, take apprentices and teach newcomers. The fair originated from the folk custom of “storytelling during the Lantern Festival”, and gradually developed into a large-scale folk opera trading market, serving as a living inheritance place for northern Chinese folk opera culture.
\n\u4e0e\u73b0\u4ee3\u5267\u573a\u6f14\u51fa\u4e0d\u540c\uff0c\u80e1\u96c6\u4e66\u4f1a\u4fdd\u7559\u4e86\u4f20\u7edf\u66f2\u827a \u201c\u6482\u5730\u6f14\u51fa\u201d \u7684\u539f\u751f\u5f62\u6001\uff0c\u827a\u4eba\u65e0\u9700\u821e\u53f0\u5e03\u666f\uff0c\u4ec5\u51ed\u4e00\u526f\u9f13\u677f\u3001\u4e00\u628a\u7434\u5c31\u80fd\u5f00\u4e66\uff0c\u5185\u5bb9\u591a\u4e3a\u5386\u53f2\u6f14\u4e49\u3001\u6c11\u95f4\u4f20\u8bf4\u4e0e\u529d\u5584\u6545\u4e8b\uff0c\u5145\u6ee1\u4e61\u571f\u6c14\u606f\u3002\u4e66\u4f1a\u4e0d\u4ec5\u662f\u66f2\u827a\u827a\u4eba\u7684\u5e74\u5ea6\u76db\u4f1a\uff0c\u4e5f\u662f\u5f53\u5730\u6c11\u4f17\u6625\u8282\u671f\u95f4\u7684\u91cd\u8981\u5a31\u4e50\u6d3b\u52a8\uff0c\u627f\u8f7d\u4e86\u534e\u5317\u5e73\u539f\u7684\u6c11\u95f4\u8bb0\u5fc6\u4e0e\u5ba1\u7f8e\u8da3\u5473\u3002\u8fd1\u5e74\u6765\u968f\u7740\u8001\u827a\u4eba\u51cf\u5c11\uff0c\u4e66\u4f1a\u89c4\u6a21\u6709\u6240\u6536\u7f29\uff0c\u662f\u4e9f\u5f85\u4fdd\u62a4\u7684\u56fd\u5bb6\u7ea7\u975e\u7269\u8d28\u6587\u5316\u9057\u4ea7\u3002
\nDifferent from modern theater performances, the Huji Storytelling Fair retains the original form of traditional folk opera “open-air performance on the ground”. Artists need no stage or scenery; they can start performing with just a set of drum clappers and a lute. The content mostly consists of historical romances, folk legends and moral stories, full of local rural charm. The fair is not only an annual grand event for folk artists, but also an important entertainment activity for local people during the Spring Festival, carrying the folk memories and aesthetic tastes of the North China Plain.
