\nThe Phags-pa script bronze weight was a standard metrological instrument officially issued by the Yuan Dynasty, and a very niche ethnic script category among ancient bronze weights. Different from well-known Qin and Han iron weights and Song Dynasty bronze weights, it is cast in bronze, mostly in the shape of a six-sided tower or round. In addition to cast Chinese inscriptions of reign title, casting location and weight, it also bears intaglio official inscriptions in Phags-pa script, serving as physical evidence of the metrological system and the integration of multi-ethnic culture of the unified Yuan Dynasty. These bronze weights were cast with standard specifications and precise weight, and were the core standard instruments for the operation of commercial trade and official handicraft systems in the Yuan Dynasty.
\n\u8fd9\u7c7b\u94dc\u6743\u591a\u51fa\u571f\u4e8e\u5143\u4ee3\u5357\u5317\u5404\u5730\u7684\u53e4\u57ce\u9057\u5740\u4e0e\u6f15\u8fd0\u7801\u5934\u9057\u5740\uff0c\u65e2\u6709\u4e2d\u592e\u6237\u90e8\u9881\u884c\u7684\u5b98\u6743\uff0c\u4e5f\u6709\u5404\u5730\u8def\u5e9c\u81ea\u884c\u94f8\u9020\u7684\u5730\u65b9\u6743\uff0c\u5b58\u4e16\u6570\u91cf\u867d\u4e0d\u7b97\u6781\u5c11\uff0c\u4f46\u5e26\u5b8c\u6574\u516b\u601d\u5df4\u6587\u94ed\u6587\u4e14\u5b57\u8ff9\u6e05\u6670\u7684\u7cbe\u54c1\u5341\u5206\u7a00\u5c11\u3002\u7531\u4e8e\u516b\u601d\u5df4\u6587\u5931\u4f20\u5df2\u4e45\uff0c\u591a\u6570\u6c11\u95f4\u6536\u85cf\u4e0e\u5c55\u51fa\u7684\u94dc\u6743\u591a\u672a\u88ab\u51c6\u786e\u8bc6\u8bfb\u3002\u76ee\u524d\u5b83\u4eec\u5927\u591a\u6536\u85cf\u4e8e\u5730\u65b9\u8003\u53e4\u673a\u6784\u4e0e\u5ea6\u91cf\u8861\u4e13\u9898\u5c55\u9986\uff0c\u6781\u5c11\u5728\u5927\u4f17\u6587\u535a\u5c55\u89c8\u4e2d\u91cd\u70b9\u5c55\u793a\uff0c\u516c\u4f17\u5bf9\u5143\u4ee3\u5ea6\u91cf\u8861\u6587\u7269\u7684\u8ba4\u77e5\u591a\u505c\u7559\u5728\u666e\u901a\u94dc\u94b1\u4e0e\u94dc\u6743\uff0c\u5bf9\u5e26\u516b\u601d\u5df4\u6587\u7684\u4e13\u9879\u54c1\u7c7b\u4e86\u89e3\u6781\u5c11\uff0c\u662f\u53e4\u4ee3\u5ea6\u91cf\u8861\u6587\u7269\u4e2d\u5341\u5206\u51b7\u95e8\u7684\u6c11\u65cf\u7279\u8272\u95e8\u7c7b\u3002
\nSuch bronze weights are mostly unearthed from ancient city sites and canal wharf sites across the north and south of the Yuan Dynasty, including official weights issued by the central Ministry of Revenue and local weights cast by local prefectures. Although the surviving quantity is not extremely small, fine works with complete and clear Phags-pa script inscriptions are very rare. Due to the long loss of the Phags-pa script, most bronze weights in private collections and exhibitions have not been accurately identified. At present, most of them are collected in local archaeological institutions and special metrological exhibition halls, and rarely featured in public cultural and museum exhibitions. The public’s understanding of Yuan Dynasty metrological relics mostly stays on common copper coins and bronze weights, with very little knowledge of special categories with Phags-pa script, making it a very obscure ethnic characteristic category among ancient metrological cultural relics.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
