\nPagoda Burning, also known as Tile Pagoda Burning, is a traditional Mid-Autumn Festival custom prevalent in southern Chinese provinces including Jiangxi, Fujian and Guangdong. It dates back to the late Yuan Dynasty, when legend has it that people lit pagodas as a signal to gather and rise up against oppressive rule. Today, the custom has long shed its military connotation and become a festive activity for family reunion and good fortune prayers, retaining its authentic ritual atmosphere in many rural areas.
\n\u4e2d\u79cb\u524d\u5915\uff0c\u6751\u6c11\u4eec\u4f1a\u7528\u74e6\u7247\u3001\u7816\u5757\u5792\u8d77\u6570\u7c73\u9ad8\u7684\u7a7a\u5fc3\u5854\uff0c\u5854\u8eab\u7559\u6709\u901a\u98ce\u7684\u5b54\u6d1e\uff0c\u5854\u5185\u586b\u5145\u67f4\u8349\u3001\u6728\u5c51\u3002\u5165\u591c\u540e\u70b9\u71c3\u5854\u5185\u67f4\u706b\uff0c\u706b\u7130\u4ece\u5b54\u6d1e\u4e2d\u55b7\u6d8c\u800c\u51fa\uff0c\u706b\u5149\u6620\u7ea2\u591c\u7a7a\uff0c\u4eba\u4eec\u56f4\u7740\u70e7\u7ea2\u7684\u5854\u8f7d\u6b4c\u8f7d\u821e\uff0c\u706b\u52bf\u8d8a\u65fa\u8d8a\u8c61\u5f81\u7740\u6765\u5e74\u65e5\u5b50\u7ea2\u706b\u3001\u4eba\u4e01\u5174\u65fa\u3002\u5b69\u7ae5\u4eec\u8fd8\u4f1a\u5f80\u5854\u4e2d\u6492\u98df\u76d0\uff0c\u7206\u51fa\u567c\u556a\u58f0\u54cd\uff0c\u4e3a\u8282\u65e5\u66f4\u6dfb\u70ed\u95f9\u8da3\u5473\u3002
\nOn the eve of the Mid-Autumn Festival, villagers build hollow pagodas several meters high using tiles and bricks, with air holes on the walls and firewood and sawdust filled inside. After dark, the fire inside is lit, and flames burst out through the holes, lighting up the night sky. People sing and dance around the glowing pagoda, as the roaring fire is believed to foretell a prosperous year and a thriving family.
